06/20 Sometimes resembling a battle in a war zone, clashes with police raged for several days until the police of the Seattle Police Department’s East Precinct, backed down, removing barricades and boarding up the building. Protesters moved in and set up the “Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone” where the police are forbidden, food is free and documentaries are screened at night. Defunding the police, ending racial injustice, the optimism and idealism of young people in full gear, one again smells hope in the air.
Trump calls these people, some of America most sensitive and sincere young people ready and willing to make sacrifices for the realization of greater levels of justice, to the President, they are “Domestic Terrorists.” and he is threatening federal action if local leaders don’t “take back” the city.
